Haitian Holiday 2010

I am blogging from the Miami International Airport, it is about 2AM here and I'm set to fly into Port au Prince at 9:00AM. I will be volunteering for 30 days with Center of Hope Haiti in the opening of their orphanage. Many different projects are planned for the children and if all my checked luggage makes it to Port au Prince unhampered with we will be able to get them done. Haitian history lessons, street cleaning projects, art projects, motivational talks about education, live musical performances and many other events are planned. The first two weeks I will be teaming up with my friend Davidson Toussaint from Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Davidson is Haitian born humanitarian and musician. Together we will stress the importance of education to the youth of Haiti. Its going to be a long 30 days and I'm excited for the opportunity to help make a difference.

Again I have to thank everyone this summer who bought shirts, wristbands, took the time to write a letter, or made a donation. $1002.00 raised in just two months of summer fundraising! Special thank you to the Barrett family, they produce and deliver me all I ♥ Haiti T-shirts. Without all their help the T-shirt project would have never been so successful.
My buddy Trent, personally delivers me all I ♥ Haiti T-shirts.

I will be keep a day to day journal detailing my time spent in Haiti this summer. Depending on my Internet situation I will try and keep the blog updated while I am working in Haiti. If not I will catch everyone up when I return.

$1,002 to Education!

The I ♥ Haiti T-shirt project has reached its summer goal of $1,000 to educating the orphans of Hinche, Haiti. Seattle sales and donations have increased and my Seattle sales rep George Stonework has been able to donate $140 to the already donated $862. This leaves the total donation to Center of Hope Haiti's education fund in the amount of $1,002.00 I would like to thank my cousin George for his hard work in fundraising in Seattle.

My cousin Georgino, you need an I ♥ Haiti T-shirt and live in the Seattle area? Get in contact with him.

My bro Clint and I.

The I ♥ Haiti T-shirt project will be on a month long break while I am in Haiti assisting Center of Hope in their opening of their new orphanage. As you can see in the picture above I ♥ Haiti T-shirt's can now be ordered in different shirt colors other than white! Colors of new shirts will be advertised as soon as I get back in town and meet with my T-shirt producer. Please hold any shirt orders until I return to the states!

Summer Fundraising Wrap Up.

Summer fundraising is finally coming to an end, it's been a fun summer traveling and selling shirts. I would like to thank everyone who has bought an I ♥ Haiti T-shirt, wristband or made a donation! In a short span of two months the I ♥ Haiti T-shirt project has been able to generate $862.00 worth of shirt and wristband sales, and donations. This money will be donated to Center of Hope Haiti's education fund. This money will be spent on properly educating the orphans in Hinche, Haiti.

Again many many thanks to all who have supported the project! I have to send a special shout out to my friends in Dallas for all of their support. Another shout out to my cousin George in Seattle, Washington for handling all Seattle sales. My friend Dena Pieson in Salem, OH for generating shirt sales in Ohio. My friend Valérie Mitchelson in Paris, France for helping with translation on the Letter for Haiti Project.

I will be leaving for Haiti July 5th, 2010 to assist with the opening of Center of Hope Haiti's orphanage. There will be a blog update soon that will detail my trip plans.
